Best way to trigger off Virulence?
If target foe was already suffering from a condition, that foe suffers from Disease, Poison, and Weakness for 3-13 seconds.
So, i tried using pin down, but its a 15 second recharge and i wona find a way to spam this on multiple targets. I also wona give my target a different condition to what virlence will give them (in other words not, disease, poison or weakness). Some help please, im thinking maybe a combo of pin down + phantom pain, but i duno - i want somethign with a fast recharge. Last edited by xb0vv; Jan 31, 2006 at 10:35 AM // 10:35.. |

Crippling Shot would be perfect for you, it has virtually no recharge, is almost unavoidable, cheap and a snare. unfortunately it is also an Elite.
Your best option is to take several condition producing skills.

since your a necro too don't forget you also have a bunch of options
obviously that won't leverage your expertise but keep that in mind, there are some cheap, even semi-spammable, options. |

How about Rotting Flesh? Then just Virulence.

rotting flesh is spammable - quick recharge - but the cast time in 3 seconds, which is way to long in pvp. also virulence gives disease so it is also redundant.
what i do is to use enfeeble (also a bit redundant, but is low energy, fast cast and quick recharge) then i cast virulence. After i cast virulence i cast epidemic to hit all nearby foes with poison and weakness also (since disease will be spread automatically. but, yes i'm open to any other suggestions that would not involved wk, ps, or ds. i hadn't thought about the ranger side of it, but then i would not be able to use epidemic, which can be a pretty good spell on its own. so i guess i would need either a mesmer or necro skill. The only other ways i have thought of so far was to cast signet of agony, then use plague sending or touch then virulence, but the casting time for all that is too long for me, although the degen would then reach 11, offsetting any regen the foe had on them. anyway, if anyone else has some ideas, i'd be happy to hear them too |

Phantom Pain is a good choice, since it is one of the only conditions not listed (other than cripple) and deep wound is just plain sick when you stack it on with the other conditions.
The obvious downside is waiting for the degen to end on Phantom Pain so that virulence can kick in. |

I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet, but Virulence is a major component in the Fragility mesmer PvP build. There, you use Shatter Hex to strip away your own Phantom Pain before it expires, and slap on Virulence once Deep Wound is in place. Of course, that build leaves Death Magic at 0 in order to trigger Fragility twice (Fragility damage x3 for each condition of Virulence when putting them on AND 3 seconds later when they come off).
If what you're looking for is a quick way to slap a single target with the full blast of Virulence as a R/N, however, Apply Poison is probably your best bet. It's reusable as every blow reapplies poison and effective even at low attributes; it's cyclable, meaning you could poison several "false" targets before getting to the one you really want to hit with Virulence; and it's used often enough in PvP that your build won't be immediately identified. As an extra bonus, carry Concussion Shot so the casters can really feel your pain Last edited by Shyft the Pyro; Jan 31, 2006 at 06:22 PM // 18:22.. |

Conjure phantasm>fragitlity>phantom pain>virulence (@3second duration)
serious amounts of pain there, just keep re-casting virulence |

W/N: (Sword) Deep Wound/Bleeding + Virulence (horrible IMO, but its a possibility for RA).
Me/N: Fragility + Phantom Pain + Shatter Delusions + Virulence for a reasonable spike (a lot of the damage comes from Shatter and Deep Wound rather than Fragility, so no need to max out the illusion attribute). You dont need to leave Death Magic at 0, but it should be no more than 2. R/N: Traps, Hunter's Shot and Pin Down + Virulence. Apply Poison isnt recommended since Virulence also applies that condition. E/N: Any kind of burning + Virulence may work. I've never tried this so I cant really say. |
